ErgoVie is a team of occupational therapists offering services in Montreal, Quebec and its surrounding regions.

Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession with a focus on enabling people to develop and/or maintain the necessary skills to safely participate in all of one’s chosen activities. Occupational therapists are trained to promote health and quality of life, and to use a holistic, evidence-based, and cost-effective approach to assess and facilitate client safety and functioning in their activities of work and daily living.

Gabi Rosberger, OT, erg.

Gabi Rosberger has worked as an occupational therapist in the public sector for over 40 years, primarily working with the older adult population. She has expertise in functional and home safety evaluations, and in developing adaptive equipment and techniques to enhance the functional autonomy of older adults. She has provided leadership through her involvement in the steering committee of the Jewish General Hospital’s program to make the hospital a more seniors’ friendly institution with the goal of preventing functional and cognitive decline (‘Approche adapté a la personne agée – AAPA).

She has given many professional presentations on the topic of care for older adults, including to the McGill University School of Nursing and at the 31 st Annual Jewish General Hospital Department of Nursing Annual Symposium, both in 2014. Gabi also has extensive experience in the field of workplace ergonomics. A dynamic speaker, Gabi has presented at workshops and seminars including: Ergonomic Workshops for Managers at Milgram and Company (Toronto and Montreal), educational workshops and workspace analysis for the design, construction and move of IMS Health Canada, and at ISPI (Boston) – Ergonomics and Human Performance Technology. She is currently a consultant for workspace design and furniture selection in the current expansion and renovation programs at The Jewish General Hospital.

Her experience, combined with her knowledge of body structure and function, effects of illness or injury, and ability to adapt the physical environment, makes her an expert in this field.

Sheila Maislin, OT, erg.

Sheila Maislin brings her extensive knowledge and skills as an occupational therapist with more than 40 years experience to ErgoVie. Specializing in physical medicine throughout her career, she has worked with a wide variety of medical conditions and places special emphasis and expertise on the aging population, and ergonomics in the workplace.

With a broad knowledge and understanding of the aging process and the inherent risks therein associated, Sheila focuses on fall protection and on identifying impairments that may impact the client’s long-term independence and safety.

For workplace ergonomics, her goal is to improve the individual’s level of well being and productivity by using her training and understanding of the physiology and functioning of the human body and the consequences of trauma and misuse. The combination of a medical and scientific expertise with extensive clinical experience has led to a proactive approach with a focus on preventing rather than correcting work related disorders.

A former lecturer at McGill University, School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, Sheila is passionate about sharing her views and experience in maximizing long-term health and independence for all individuals.

She has delivered the following presentations: Developing Elder Friendly Hospitals to Governor Circle Members-JGH Foundation; The Deconditioning Cycle to Nursing and Nursing Management-JGH; Ergonomic and Hospital Design to Architects and Project Managers-JGH; and The effects of hospitalization on the elderly , Mini-Med. seminar, Jewish General Hospital.

Alexander Masser, OT, erg.

Alexander (Zander) Masser is an occupational therapist who provides care to individuals and families in their homes. His expertise is doing assessments of home safety, accessibility, and mobility, with a primary focus on providing tailored and concrete recommendations to maximize safety, accessibility, and autonomy in the home.

Zander has many years of experience doing assessments for the provincial Programme d’Adaptation de Domicile (PAD program) as well as for the workers compensation boards of Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, and the Northwest Territories. Zander is an active OT provider for Veterans Affairs Canada and travels throughout Quebec and Ontario to work with clients in their homes. Beyond the assessment and recommendations, Zander actively helps his clients navigate various provincial and federal programs to ensure that they get what they need. 

Zander also helped to establish and supervise the workplace wellness field placement at McGill University, which has been active for over 5 years. 

Zander works with clients with a variety of diagnoses, including musculoskeletal, neurological, and cognitive disorders. He places a high priority on establishing a trusting relationship with his clients and their families and has a collaborative approach to care. No matter the setting, with Zander, the goal is always to improve quality of life, on the client’s terms.

In his spare time, he performs and composes music, enjoys outdoor sports and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Melanie Kasner, OT, erg.

Melanie Kasner is a dynamic occupational therapist with expertise in office ergonomics, and in the management of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long-COVID. Melanie offers services both in-person and online.

Besides her clinical work, Melanie is part of the ICanCME (Interdisciplinary Canadian Collaborative Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) Research Network, and is a member of the comité scientifique of the AQEM (Association Québécoise de l’encéphalomyélite myalgique). Melanie was proud to have been on the consultation committee for the Management Support Tool – Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which was published in 2023 by the Quebec government’s Institut national d’excellence en santé et services sociaux (INESSS).

Melanie has been a guest lecturer and speaker at the McGill University School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, where she has discussed Seating and Positioning in a Pediatric Population (2017, 2018), and the Pros and Cons of Healthcare Entrepreneurship (2022, 2023).

In her spare time, Melanie enjoys reading, spending time in nature, volunteering in her community, and playing board games.
